At 1,155 cubic inches and capable of supporting over 1,000whp the ARM Motorsports 1K FMIC is the ultimate intercooler upgrade for your E-Series BMW. The ARM 1K FMIC is designed to work with upgraded twin turbo and big single turbo builds.
The foundation of the ARM 1K FMIC is it's massive core with a volume of 1,155cu in. Measuring in at 20"x11"x7.5" it is 270% bigger than the stock intercooler and one of the largest FMIC's available for the E-Series BMW.
Size does matter, but it's not the whole story. Which is why the ARM 1K FMIC utilizes an ultra-dense fin pack of 20 fins per inch to maximize the volume of it's huge core.
Combine the over-sized core with the ultra-dense fin packs of the 1K FMIC and you have one of the best performing intercoolers available for the E-Series BMW. Below is a datalog from our project 335xi equipped with upgraded turbos, supporting modifications, and our ARM 1K FMIC. During 3rd gear datalogs we were seeing only 5 degree increases in IAT's from the beginning of the run to the end, the starting IAT being 59 degrees Fahrenheit, and still an icy cool 64 degrees at the finish.
The ARM 1K FMIC end-tanks are designed with smooth transitions and geometry to improve airflow and maximize power. The end-tanks feature 3" inlet and outlet ports with fluid transitions from the turbos and to the charge pipe to minimize turbulence. The ARM 1K FMIC features a cast fin integrated into the inlet port to distribute the charge air more uniformly over the intercooler core. This fin directs charge air upward in the end tank to fill the stepped portion of the FMIC core more completely to more effectively cool the charge air.
To Install the ARM 1K FMIC kit properly a 3" Charge Pipe is required.

Hey everyone, thought I would give my review after a few thousand miles of having my intercooler installed. It seems to keep temps a little colder after pulls but this does not seem to do a lot. If you are really looking to keep temps down after pulls I would get a better oil cooler. Installation takes about 4 hours, you will need to cut a lot on your intercooler support but as long as you have a Dremel it should be quick. Installation of the hose to charge pipe I had a bit of trouble and needed to cut about 1cm off the hose to make sure it will fit the space and not touch the accessory belt. After all those were completed it works good. In conclusion, for the price it is good but there are definitely other options and unless you are going for massive power you don't need one this big.
Package got here in only about 3 days for a big package, am very pleased. Intercooler is solid and looks great.
Huge Inter cooler and does its job perfect definitely got my business
Yeah, it’s big. You will have to trim a fair amount of plastic. Be careful and patient, though, as I nicked my power steering cooler pipe and got sprayed with pressurized PS fluid. You’ll also have to relocate the ambient air temp sensor. This is replacing my ARM 5” step intercooler which was also great. Can’t go wrong with ARM.
Awesome FMIC, gets the job done and keeps IATs down!
